A few Offbeat Destinations one can Visit in India

Mawlynnong—situated in Meghalaya was awarded the title of Cleanest Village Of Asia in 2003. The scenic beauty of the place fills your senses. The cascading waterfalls, caves, Living Roots Bridge which has been created out of tree roots can leave you wonderstruck.

Halebid– situated in Hassan district of Karnataka is an ancient temple town of South India. It was earlier known as Dwarasamudra or gateway to the seas and this was the capital of the Hoysala Dynasty for 150 years. The place is known for Hoysala architecture. It shows vestiges of great architecture and culture.

Chembra Peak- this offbeat destination in Kerala makes for an exciting trek. It is located in Wayanad district in the lap of the Western Ghats. If you are a nature or adventure lover and this is the right place for you. To trek in this area, one has to take prior permission from the forest department for the preservation of wildlife and the safety of trekkers. The peak offers a panoramic view which is a treat for one’s eyes.

Ziro– a beautiful, serene place situated in Arunachal Pradesh. The beauty untouched by man is a beauty to the eyes of the beholder. The scenic beauty looks surreal. White wisps of clouds floating on the horizon, verdant green patches, the rice fields are a wonderful sight. Majuli- this is a river island located on the banks of the river Brahmaputra in Assam. One can reach this place via ferries which one can take from Jorhat. The place doesn’t have any luxury hotels but beautiful bamboo huts which is a wonderful place to stay. The serenity of the place welcomes tourists.

Champaner-It is a UNESCO world heritage site situated in Gujarat. It is famous for its Champaner- Pavagadh Archaeological Park. The ruins consist of mosques and a fortress.

Hemis- this place boasts of snowcapped mountain ranges, located in Ladakh. It is famous for the Hemis Gompa or monastery. The Hemis National Park is a high altitude national park that is home to snow leopards. The scenic beauty of the place can mesmerize a tourist and he yearns for more A  haven for photographers and stargazers.

Varkala-found on the shores of the Arabian sea, this paradise on earth is located in Kerala. It boasts of pristine beaches, shrines, and lighthouses. One can enjoy adventure sports like paragliding and parasailing in this beach town. Far from the madding crowd, this retreat is for people wanting to learn yoga, meditation& Ayurveda. People can enjoy both swimming and sunbathing here.
